| Chinese automaker Changfeng plans to sell cars in U.S. by 2009
The first Chinese automaker to present at the North American International Auto Show this year unveiled two new hatchback models, the Liebao CS7 and the Kylin. WAY-BACK MACHINE: A close election in Monterey County
I was disappointed to hear late last week that Bill Richardson, the governor of New Mexico, has pulled out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. Im not a Democrat and, thus, would not have been able to cast a vote for him in next months California primary, but I have a lot of friends on that side of the aisle who considered him the best of the lot from either party and who were looking forward to voting for him. It seems that Richardson is destined to be what, a generation ago, Howard Baker was for the Republicans: The good guy with the great portfolio who cleans up other peoples messes but who never gets to carry the party standard. .
Gruhot, a cornerstone of the community, remembered
Fox said Gruhot was flexible on the worksite, willing to help out where needed, willing to share equipment when someone else needed it for a certain task, always a good eye for keeping costs down.
What I would see on site was the equipment was top-notch; I admired that a lot, Fox said. He was also very concerned about safety involved at any project site.

Kim Christensen of KHC Construction has known Gruhot for 33 years, often working closely with him even studying project estimates and billing in the basement of Gruhots home. That was helpful as Christensen eventually started his own business.
There was trust, and it would go both ways, Christensen said.
